Among the proposals outlined in a conservative policy blueprint called Project 2025, there’s a major focus on removing anything that points to the reality of climate change. And although the conservative think behind Project 2025 announced this week it was disbanding the initiative after the Trump campaign sought to distance itself from it, it was worked on by nearly 150 former Trump aides and administration staffers — many of whom could be hired back should the former president win a second term. From dissolving the National Weather Service, to easing environmental restrictions for private sector projects, Project 2025 could embolden companies to increase their carbon output and drastically change how Nevadans prepare for ever-intensifying heat waves brought on by climate change.
