Video: How a Second Trump Term Could Make Nevada Summers Worse

As average temperatures here in Nevada and around the world are reaching record-breaking highs this summer, Donald Trump’s plans to roll back environmental protections if he wins November’s election could cause irreversible damage in the climate change crisis. Among the proposals outlined in a conservative policy blueprint called Project 2025, there’s a major focus on removing anything that points to the reality of climate change. And although the conservative think behind Project 2025 announced this week it was disbanding the initiative after the Trump campaign sought to distance itself from it, it was worked on by nearly 150 former Trump aides and administration staffers — many of whom could be hired back should the former president win a second term. From dissolving the National Weather Service, to easing environmental restrictions for private sector projects, Project 2025 could embolden companies to increase their carbon output and drastically change how Nevadans prepare for ever-intensifying heat waves brought on by climate change. Check out our video to learn more about how a second Trump term could make avoiding the worst effects of climate change a near-impossible feat.

The Fight to Fund Wisconsin’s Schools

While no one likes paying higher taxes, some costs are necessary for maintaining quality schools, roads, and services, says Nick Ouellette, superintendent of the Hudson School District, where a referendum failed in November.

Why is a referendum needed? The Republican-controlled state legislature has shifted the responsibility of funding a quality education to local communities, leaving schools across Wisconsin fighting to pass referendums to fund just the basic operations of their schools.

Will health insurance premiums rise is 2026?

Will health insurance premiums rise is 2026?

Over the past four years, new and more generous tax credits have dramatically reduced the cost of health insurance premiums for those Wisconsinites who get their coverage on the marketplace.

But if those credits are not renewed by the end of 2025, people that need to purchase insurance through the Affordable Care Act could see higher price tags.

To say that President-elect Trump’s nominee to be the next US Secretary of Agriculture….

To say that President-elect Trump’s nominee to be the next US Secretary of Agriculture….

To say that President-elect Trump’s nominee to be the next US Secretary of Agriculture is an unknown is a bit of an understatement. Brooke Rollins of Texas was a domestic policy advisor in Trump’s first administration, with some family farming experience based in 4H, Future Farmers of America, and showing cattle.

The USDA, meanwhile, has 100,000 employees and is responsible for a food and farming sector of the economy valued at more than $1 trillion.

Congress is also more than a year late updating the Farm Bill, and with Trump threatening trade wars that could cripple Wisconsin farmers, it’s no wonder producers around the state are trying to figure out if Rollins is an ally, an adversary, or a placeholder.
