Here’s the scoop on seven Las Vegas ice cream shops serving unique flavors.
With Las Vegas expecting record temperatures this week, locals will have to scramble to stay cool. Fortunately, July is National Ice Cream Month. It’s practically a patriotic duty to beat the heat with a scoop or three of ice cream.
In Sin City, there’s no shortage of quality options, ranging from vanilla variety ice cream shops to sugar-dusted dens of gluttony.
If you want to savor unique ice cream flavors and potentially expand your palette, you can do that too. Here’s the scoop on seven Las Vegas ice cream shops serving fun flavors, including No. 4 of Yelp’s Top 100 ice cream shops in the United States.
1. Lappert’s Ice Cream
California Hotel & Casino
The tropical Hawaiian tastes at Lappert’s Ice Cream come from three generations of Lappert men, including a Culinary Institute grad with a penchant for creating new flavors.
Located on the second floor of the California Hotel & Casino, the downtown Las Vegas location doles out large scoops of ice cream, with flavors like Rum Raisin, Kauai Pie, Ube Macapuno, Horchata Cajeta, and Kona Mocha Chip (made with the shop’s award-winning blend of Kona beans).
2. La Flor de Michoacan Ice Cream Shop
Boulder Station Hotel Casino
3760 E Desert Inn Road
3021 Charleston Boulevard, Suite B
Putting a twist on authentic Mexican flavors, La Flor de Michoacan Ice Cream Shop handmakes all its ice cream, including Gansito, Cajetas, Mamey, Rose Petal, Guava, and Chamoy. The Chongos (cheese) and Piñon (pine nut) flavors are highly recommended by Yelpers.
Not sure if you’ll like a certain flavor? Don’t be afraid to ask for a sample. The shop also sells fresh paletas (Mexican popsicles), agua frescas, snacks, and other desserts.
3. Cream Me Ice Creamery
1203 S. Main Street, Downtown Las Vegas
Located in the Las Vegas Arts District, this retro-inspired shop serves creative ice cream concoctions with funky-fresh flavors like Honeysuckle Rose, Circus Animal Cookie, Guinness Stout, Cotton Candy, and Fried Ice Cream (it’s not actually fried). They also have a proprietary Cream Me dessert sauce and an extensive list of toppings, ranging from run-of-the-mill chocolate chips to multi-colored breakfast cereals.
Vegans have plenty of flavors to choose from here too. Trivia fanatics, meanwhile, will appreciate the fun ice cream facts on the shop’s Instagram.
4. La Paleta
5651 S. Grand Canyon Drive, #140
Rated the No. 4 ice cream shop in the country on Yelp’s Top 100, La Paleta is owned by a third-generation paleta (popsicle) maker and his wife.
The menu boasts 24 flavors of delicious handmade paletas and 15 ice cream flavors including Biscoff Cookie, Cajeta, Chocolate Abuelita, Lavender, Rose Petal, and Taro, as well as rotating and seasonal flavors. The quirky Queso ice cream flavor (cotija cheese and a homemade triple-berry jam) is a favorite among customers.
5. Salt & Straw
Uncommons, 6815 Tom Rodriguez Street, #120
The ice cream at Salt & Straw incorporates interesting flavor profiles and unexpected ingredients, based on the creamery’s connections with local vendors in all the cities where it is located (California, Oregon, Washington, Florida, and Nevada).
Flavors include Birthday Cakes and Blackberries, Goat Cheese Marionberry Habanero, Pear and Blue Cheese, Huckleberry Cornbread, Salty Donut, and Guava Cheese.
6. Sorry, Not Sorry Creamery
9484 W. Flamingo Road, #165
7170 N. Durango Drive, #130
517 Fremont Street, Downtown Las Vegas
3239 Bicentennial Parkway, #100, Henderson
Premium ice cream at Sorry, Not Sorry Creamery comes in 16 classic and four rotating seasonal flavors. These artisan flavors like Blueberry Basil, GRAZAcado, Hot Honey Cornbread, and Ube Honeycomb are said to be developed with research and love, and most of the ingredients are made in-house.
The downtown Las Vegas location is currently showcasing an exclusive Nevada flavor called Blackberry Basque Cake as a nod to some of the Silver State’s early settlers.
7. Bruster’s Real Ice Cream
2862 S Durango Drive
Located in The Lakes, Bruster’s Real Ice Cream of Las Vegas has 150 flavors of ice cream, 24 of which are handcrafted in small batches on-site daily.
