How to get to the Reno Rodeo
The Reno Rodeo grounds are off Interstate 80 just to the northeast of downtown Reno, in a lot bound by Sutro Street, East Ninth Street and North Wells Avenue. Attendees can drive and park their own vehicles at the rodeo or take a bus, taxi or shuttle service to the rodeo.
If you prefer not to park at the rodeo grounds: To save the hassle of parking on-site, the Reno Rodeo and the Grand Sierra Resort will provide a free shuttle between the parking lot at the GSR (2500 E. Second St. in Reno) and the rodeo grounds between 2:30 p.m. and midnight for all 10 days of the rodeo.
Two RTC Washoe bus lines — Ninth/Silverada/Sparks and Sun Valley via Sutro/Wedekind — will continue to make stops at Ninth and Sutro streets at the southeast corner of the rodeo grounds.
If you’d rather park at the rodeo grounds: Traffic will move in a counterclockwise direction around the rodeo grounds. Drivers heading northbound on Wells Avenue will be diverted east at Ninth Street and north at Sutro Street.
Drivers can enter the North Lot (which includes VIP, disabled and general parking) at Gate 2.5 on the northwest side of the rodeo grounds. The South Lot (which includes VIP, disabled and permit parking but not general parking) can be reached through Gate 6 on the east side of the rodeo grounds near the intersection of Sutro and 11th streets.
Wells Avenue will be reduced to two lanes, with one-way west and southbound traffic from Sutro Street to 9th Street.
Northbound traffic will be redirected east at 9th Street and north at Sutro Street.
Only left turns will be allowed into and out of the rodeo grounds from Wells Avenue, while normal turning options will be allowed on Sutro and 9th streets.
Traffic signs will be in place, and the Reno Police Department may assist during peak hours.
Gate 3 located off Wells Avenue west of Sutro will serve as the contestant entrance.
Public parking access will be available through Gate 2.5 for the north lot and Gate 6 off Sutro for the south lot, with ADA parking in both areas.
Gates 2, 4, and the Health Department Gate will be exit-only.
All gates will open after each night’s event to aid outgoing traffic.
Free parking and shuttle service will be offered daily from 2:30 p.m. to midnight at the Grand Sierra Resort and from 4:30 p.m. to midnight at the University of Nevada, Reno’s Enterprise Road lot.
A bus stop north of Gate 2.0 will provide shuttle service to both parking sites.
Taxi stands will be located on Wells Avenue south of Sadleir Way.
All Reno Rodeo related traffic changes will be in effect beginning the evening of Sunday, June 15, and will be removed early on the morning of Sunday, June 29.
