I am the former Web Development and Interactive Technology Manager at the George Eastman Museum of Photography and Film. During my tenure there I designed and built the site and integrated the museum's collection databases, making each of the 650,000 collection items available online. At the Rochester Institute of Technology, I formed a sponsored research partnership and developed advanced versions of my Self-Contained Internet Remote Camera system known as ‘SCIRC’ technology. Focused on alternative power sources and offering customers cameras that work from anywhere within range of a cell tower. I was the New Media Director for Gannett’s Democrat and Chronicle, the flagship outlet that took Gannett from statically produced pages to dynamically integrated content from their newsroom and advertising systems. Oh yeah, and in 1995 I build the first TGIFridays Website!

IRONY ALERT!

IRONY ALERT!

The Wisconsin Legislature is entering the ninth month of lawmakers getting paid to not be in session, but Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos says one of his first priorities is forcing more state employees to give up work-from-home arrangements.

Speaking on WISN-TV’s Upfront, Vos displayed no sense of irony in saying state services aren’t what they should be because workers aren’t in an office.

Vos also showed no support for the idea of using the state’s $4 billion to improve finances for schools districts, even though hundreds of them had to go to referendum due to state aid not keeping up with inflation.

Ben Wikler, chair of the Wisconsin Democratic Party, has entered the race to lead the DNC

Ben Wikler, chair of the Wisconsin Democratic Party, has entered the race to lead the Democratic National Committee (DNC). Announcing his candidacy on Sunday, Wikler highlighted his success in building a year-round, statewide campaign structure that engages rural, suburban, urban, and politically diverse areas.

Wikler, who became Wisconsin’s party chair in 2019, pointed to key victories under his leadership, including flipping the Wisconsin Supreme Court, reelecting Governor Tony Evers, securing Senator Tammy Baldwin’s third term, and reclaiming 14 state legislative seats. These wins, he argued, demonstrate a strategy that could work nationwide.

Democrats, still recovering from close losses at the federal level and preparing for four more years of a Trump presidency, are seeking new leadership to guide the party forward.

Wikler emphasized the importance of the DNC chair in organizing and providing resources to state and local levels, adding, “What has made a difference in Wisconsin can make a difference everywhere.”

Other candidates for DNC chair include Ken Martin, head of Minnesota’s Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, and former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley. The DNC will select its new leader in February, signaling the direction the party will take in the years ahead.
