Whether your tooth leans toward sweet or savory, Las Vegas has you covered when it comes to Hispanic dessert and snack shops.
From paletas and shaved ice to churros and corn in a cup, you’ll find all your traditional Latin favorites in Sin City as well as some decadent twists. As for ice cream, the city scores two spots on Yelp’s list of the Top 100 ice cream shops in the U.S.
Craving a little treat but you’re not sure what you want or where to go? Well, you can’t go wrong at any of these 10 Latin dessert and snack shops or bakeries.
La Paleta
Rated the #4 ice cream shop in the country on Yelp’s Top 100, La Paleta is located on the southwest side of Las Vegas. Owned by a third-generation paleta maker and his wife, the menu boasts handmade paletas, treats, and ice cream, including a quirky queso flavor. Yelper Martin D. writes, “Their paletas are above and beyond ’cause they are also fun” while Daniela F. is “currently obsessed with their fruit cup.” Sj M. ‘s goes here due to his dairy allergy, noting “they had plenty of dairy-free options.” Sit inside with your family to play board and video games or enjoy your treats al fresco. Melvin W. calls La Paleta “a godsend” for the hot Vegas summers, adding, “customer service is top notch” and “small business owners should be supported.”
Lokuras
With an extensive menu of fruit, corn, drinks, shaved ice, snacks, and Thrifty ice cream (if you know, you know), family-owned Lokuras (Spanish for madness) has all the right ingredients to satisfy your sweet or savory spot. Reviews on Yelp are packed with sugar-coated comments about Lakura and its confections. It’s “definitely a go-to place” for Yelper Syeda Sania A. while “their corn is on point every time” according to Yelper Montse S. Yelper Martha L. adds that they make “the best walnut raspado.” There are locations, one in Chinatown and one Sun City Summerlin, doubling your opportunity to live la vida Lokuras.
El Tricolor Bakery
Known for their tres leches and 4-in-1 cakes, the family-owned El Tricolor Bakery has a long history in northwest Las Vegas. This Mexican panadería handmakes a variety of fresh baked pastries, breads and Hispanic foods. Yelper B M. has “developed an addiction for their pastries” noting that “their version of a croissant surpasses the bland and boring traditional version.” Paulette M. writes, “I couldn’t believe the wide selection of beautiful cakes, pan dulce, and extraordinary artisan quality Latin American breads, El Salvadoran pupusas and even pizza” while Frances S. calls it “a small bakery with a huge heart.”
Paletas y Helados Michoacán
Owned by locals who moved here from the Michoacán city of Zitácuaro, Paletas y Helados Michoacán in North Las Vegas serve up a taste of their south of the border home with an array of drinks, snacks and sweets including artisanal popsicles and Mexican sorbet. Customers on Yelp are highly complementary, noting the shop is great for kids. There’s “a lot of room to chill with family,” writes Yelper Alvy S. while Dee claims her kids love this place, “and they’re picky” in a Google review. Yelper Angel Q. adds that the shop is always “accommodating and understanding” when she asks them to put her exquisite in a to-go container.
Ole Churros
Owned by two Spaniard friends, Ole Churros at Town Square provides a taste of Spain in the form of churros and other authentic treats like Spanish chocolate, soft serve and coffee drinks. Ingredients are imported from Alicante and the churro recipe comes from generations of Churreros (churro makers) in Madrid. “These are the freshest, most delicious, non-greasy Churros I’ve ever had,” writes Yelper Lourdes V. while April D. notes: “These are not your average churros. These are the best churros you’ll ever have in your whole life!” Such stellar reviews may be why Ole Churros recently opened a second location in Henderson.
La Paleta Bar Shanghai Plaza
Ranked #11 on Yelp’s Top 100, husband and wife-owned La Paleta Bar is a one-stop Spanish ice pops shop. Located in Chinatown’s Shanghai Plaza, you can pick from limitless combinations of exotic flavors, drizzles, toppings and natural fruit or choose from a tried and true menu. Not sure what to choose, try a sample then watch as your delicious treat is made right in front of your eyes. “I’m addicted,” writes Yelper Jenn L. while Winston L. notes: “Who would have thought Chinatown Las Vegas would have freaking amazing paletas?” Melanie S. adds that it’s “the perfect Vegas summer treat.” La Paleta Bar also has locations throughout the southwest U.S., including in New Mexico, Colorado, California, Texas, Arizona and Utah.
Un Poko Krazy
Are you craving a little something to eat? Un Poko Krazy in Henderson has a lot of Mexican and non-Mexican options. Plus, its menu of snacks and sweets incorporates concoctions made with a wide variety of fun ingredients like Fruity Pebbles, cotton candy, and Nutella. The churros get a lot of love on Yelp as does the quality of their products. Yelper Jessica T. points out “the overall freshness of the fruits they use” and London C. agrees, writing of the aguas frescas and popsicles, that “you can tell they’re made in house with real fruit.” Jane M. calls it “a hidden gem” while Geselle R. touted the “many options” on the menu board. With indoor and outdoor seating, it’s a cozy spot to quell big cravings.
Pasabocas Columbian Bakery
With a roomy, comfortable location in the historic Commercial Center, the family-owned Pasabocas Colombian Bakery serves hard-to-find Colombian goodies that provide a taste of home. Pastries are made with guava, cheese, dulce de leche, fig and other flavors. “When I tell you this place felt like home, I felt so at home,” writes Yelper Kyana C., who grew up eating Almojábanas, Buñuelos, and Pandebono. With cute decorations and lots of table games, the shop is great for people of all ages. Dawn B. describes the bakery as a hole-in-a-wall” that deserves to be recognized because it is well run, clean and never fails to deliver” and Jolene S. writes that it’s the “Best Colombian bakery I’ve been to.”
La Real de Michoacán
Located in the Whitney Ranch area of Henderson, the owners of La Real de Michoacan take pride in serving the community with quality ice cream flavors, aguas frescas, botanas, and desserts. Open since 2021, Yelpers praise the family-friendly shop’s authenticity, freshness, and unique, made-from-scratch treats. Quinney H. loves that the menu of sweet and savory items includes “a hodgepodge of snacks, desserts … and eclectic meals.” Ana C. was thrilled with her order, noting that “the homemade flans are to die for” while Gabe C. and his wife “swear by their corn in a cup!”
The Neveria
The Neveria, located in a busy Silverado Ranch shopping center, opened in place of another Latin snack and dessert shop last year. Customers are already noticing a difference. Yelper Jessica P. notes “They have the same yummy Mexican treats as before, just a new look inside” while Melyna M. was so happy she’s “already talking about going back!” With a full menu of Ice cream, munchies, popsicles (dairy and non-dairy), aguas frescas, sorbets, and other treats, the shop has also been lauded for its authenticity. Michael F. writes it’s “just like the ice cream shops in San Jose Del Cabo Mexico while Frida M. is reminded of the shop “at the border crossing back from TJ.”
